GRP Biathlon Qualifies 5 for Pre-Christmas International Racing
United States Biathlon has announced the rosters for the first trimester of World Cup and IBU Cup Racing. 5 GRP biathletes have qualified to race based on outstanding performances last season and their results in rollerski races this summer and fall.
The first round of rollerski trials took place in Jericho, Vermont in August and featured two competitions. The second round consisted of 3 races at Soldier Hollow in Heber City, Utah from October 23rd to October 26th. The best 3 of 5 competitions where tabulated, and the athletes with the best points were selected to race overseas.
Clare Egan and Susan Dunklee showed why they are pre-qualified for the 2022 Olympic Games with multiple podium appearances across the rollerski selection races. Dunklee and Egan will represent the US on the World Cup for the duration of the season.
Kelsey Dickinson’s strong racing during rollerski trials earned her the 3rd overall ranking among athletes not pre-qualified for the Olympics. Dickinson has been invited to the final round of World Cup tryouts at the US Team’s pre-season training camp in Obertilliach, Austria. Kelsey is vying for one of the two remaining World Cup start slots.
Jake Brown will join the women’s trio at World Cup Camp. Like Susan and Clare, Jake is pre-qualified for the opening run of World Cup races but will need to earn his place at the Olympics with top results on the World Cup in December and January.
Hallie Grossman and Luke Brown both qualified for the first two IBU Cup races. Hallie garnered the 5th overall ranking among athletes not pre-qualified for the World Cup. Luke pulled down the 7th spot among men not already ordained with World Cup start rights.
