World Cup II Preview: Cross Country Canceled, Biathlon goes again in Finland

Written by GRP Biathlete Raleigh Goessling

With the first World Cup weekend of Nordic competition done and dusted, it is time to look ahead to World Cup II.

The cross country World Cup was originally scheduled to move to Lillehammer, Norway for the second stage of the tour, but the Norwegian government put the kibosh on the event, forcing the FIS to cancel the event.

This means that the next cross country World Cup is scheduled to take place in Davos, Switzerland from December 12th to 13th, with a freestyle sprint and freestyle distance racing. Green Racing Project athlete Adam Martin will be toeing the line for these races. Caitlin Patterson, who raced this past weekend in Finland, is currently not scheduled to compete in Davos.

The biathlon World Cup tour will stay in Kontiolahti, Finland for the second stage of the tour.

GRP biathletes Clare Egan, Jake Brown and Susan Dunklee, along with Craftsbury summer program alum Johanna Talihärm will be in action again starting with Sprint competitions for men and women on December 3rd. After the sprints, Relay and Pursuit competitions follow on the 5th and 6th of December.
