GRP Women Sweep Mass Start Podium at Successful Summer Biathlon Nationals
The GRP Biathlon team racked up 5 podium positions across two days of competition at the 2021 Summer Biathlon National Championships in Jericho, Vermont.
Sprint competitions got the Championships underway, and the GRP got out to a fast start with the Women taking 4 of the top 6 places. Clare Egan claimed the top spot on the podium, with a single missed target from the prone position.
Susan Dunklee missed one prone, and two standing targets, but fast skiing landed her in 3rd place, one second away from second place.
Kelsey Dickinson also showed her speed on the tracks by pulling down 4th place, also with 3 total misses on the range.
Hallie Grossman made 5 shooting errors, but powered to 6th courtesy of quick track times.
Tara Geraghty-Moats placed 10th, also with 5 shooting mistakes.
The GRP men were led by Luke Brown in 7th place with 6/10 shooting. Carsen Campbell hit 7/10, placing 10th and Raleigh Goessling finished the day in 11th.
The GRP Women again showed their class in the Mass Start, landing 4 athletes in the top 6 places. Clare Egan duplicated her winning ways, missing only one target on the way to an impressive victory. Susan Dunklee kept pace with Egan through the first three shooting stages, before having to settle for second after missing two shots in the final standing bout.
Kelsey Dickinson’s fast skiing once again secured her the final place on the podium despite missing 6 targets.
Hallie Grossman also used her powerful skiing to overcome 8 shooting mistakes and finished the competition in 6th place.
Tara Geraghty-Moats placed 11th.
The men were led by Jake Brown’s 5th place, 5 miss performance. Jake was followed by Carsen Campbell in 10th, Raleigh Goessling in 11th and Luke Brown in 13th.
The biathlon team will now return to the Craftsbury Outdoor Center for a weeklong training camp in conjunction with the US National Team.
