GRP skiers and biathletes swept the men’s and women’s podiums at the NENSA Lost Nation Rollerski Race.

The Outdoor Center played host to NENSA’s first rollerski race of the summer this past Sunday. U16, Masters, and GRP athletes all took part in the competition which featured several unique aspects. These included starting two competitors of the same gender at the same time and beginning the race by traversing rollerski ramps.

The Open Men’s race was tightly contested with Adam Martin, fresh off the wedding festivities of fellow pro skier Ian Torchia, eking out a 3.6 second lead over first year GRP biathlete Luke Brown. Only two tenths of a second later Luke’s start partner and fellow GRP biathlete Raleigh Goessling stopped the clock to claim 3rd. GRP Biathlete Jake Brown took 4th 10 seconds back and GRP skier Akeo Maifeld Carucci took 5th, 30 seconds adrift of Martin’s winning mark.

In the Women’s Race, GRP skier Caitlin Patterson romped to a 42 second win over GRP biathlete Susan Dunklee. In another nail-biting finish, GRP biathlete Hallie Grossman took 3rd, only 4 tenths of a second behind Susan. A mere 3 seconds later, first year GRP skier Alex Lawson stopped the clock to claim 4th, with her teammate Margie Freed claiming 5th, a further 18 seconds behind.
