[GRP Biathlon] World Cup Season Wraps up in Oslo

Green Racing Project biathletes wrapped up a successful season with three weekends of post-Olympics racing. At the beginning of March, Jake Brown, Susan Dunklee, and Clare Egan competed in Kontiolahti, Finland. Susan led out the USA women’s relay team, which finished in 7th, with Clare skiing the third leg. The men finished in 10th with Jake as the anchor leg. In the sprint, Jake placed 27th, Clare 51st, and Susan 71st. In the following pursuit, Clare moved up to 37th with Jake finishing in 22nd.

The trio then traveled to Otepää, Estonia for the first ever World Cups in Estonia. In the opening sprint, Susan placed 27th, Jake was 37th, and Clare finished in 51st. On the relay day, Jake skied on the USA’s mixed relay team which finished in 11th. Susan was the women’s leg of the single mixed team which placed 9th. 

The World Cup circuit concluded the season in Oslo, Norway at the energetic and crowd-filled Holmenkollen Ski Stadium. Jake placed 47th in the sprint with Clare in 49th and Susan in 51st. Jake moved up to 39th in the pursuit with Clare finishing in 44th and Susan in 53rd. 

These Cedar Sprigs, having finished their World Cup seasons, now return to the Northeast for US Biathlon Nationals in Lake Placid. A special congratulations to Susan and Clare who will be retiring after this season. We will be taking a more in-depth look back on their careers and influence on the biathlon world at a later date.
