[GRP Biathlon]: Soldier Hollow Preview

Kelsey Dickinson during last year’s trials races.

The biathlon team traveled to Utah the first weekend in October to prep for their upcoming rollerski biathlon trials races. While GRPer Jake Brown is already prequalified for Period 1 World Cup starts, the rest of the team will use these races to earn IBU and World Cup berths for November and December.

It’ll be a two-day race weekend, as a part of the Shutzenski Festival, featuring a sprint on Friday, October 14th and a mass start on the 15th. Both races will count for qualification.

Five athletes of each gender will qualify for Team USA’s pre-World Cup camp in Vuokatti, Finland, from which 4 will be selected for Period 1 WC starts. The World Cup’s first competition will be in Kontiolahti, Finland, on November 29th. Three more athletes will qualify from the Utah races for the IBU Cup which begins in Sjusjoen, Norway on November 24th.
