Later in the weekend, in a relay that included Susan and Clare, the USA women placed 5th - their best result in twenty-eight years. The men’s team, including Jake, placed 14th in the relay. Clare wrapped up the weekend with a 22nd in the women’s mass start.

While the World Cup athletes then prepared for the Olympics, the IBU Cup traveled to Nove Mesto, Czech Republic. Tara placed 53rd in the first sprint with Hallie in 58th and Kelsey in 83rd. Luke was 93rd for the men. In the second sprint of the weekend, Tara finished in 43rd with Kelsey right behind in 44th and Hallie in 64th. Luke placed 84th.

These athletes now have a three week break until the last two weekends of IBU Cup racing in Lenzerheide, Switzerland and Ridnaun, Italy.

GRP biathlon coach Michael Gibson was USA team leader for period two of the IBU Cup with Craftsbury’s Ethan Dreissigacker behind the scope for the last two weeks of racing.
