GRP Advances Two Boats to Olympic Trials Finals

Two GRP boats advanced to the Finals of Olympic Trials II following semifinal and repechage action on day three of racing from Lake Mercer.

Jennifer Forbes and her composite 2x partner Sophia Vitas won semifinal 1 in a photo finish to secure a place in in Thursday’s final. Emily Dellman and her composite partner Christine Pretto placed 4th in the same race, falling out of contention for an appearance in the final.

In the Men’s’ 4x repechage the GRP composite of Matt O’Leary, GRP rower Jacob Plihal, Craftsbury athlete Lucas Bellows, and Travis Taaffe punched their ticket to Thursday’s final with a win in the first and only rep of the day. The GRP 4x composed of GRP athletes Luke Rein, Mark Couwenhoven, Webster Thompson and Nate Phelps was edged out of a place in the final by a Penn AC quad which completed the course a mere 0.8 seconds quicker.

Finals start at 8:00am EST from Lake Mercer with Jennifer Forbes Women’s 2x contest. The GRP composite quad will race at 8:10am.
