Olympic Trials 2 Starts on Monday- Here’s how to watch!
The 2021 Olympic and Paralympic Trials 2 are set to begin for our GRP rowers on Monday April 12. Our athletes will be competing in the Men’s quad (4x) and the Women’s double (2x). There are a total of 27 boat entries, with the Women’s 2x competing to be named the boat that will represent the United States at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The Men’s 4x is not yet qualified for Tokyo meaning they are competing at Trials to be the United States Men’s quad who will represent the U.S. at the Final Olympic Qualification Regatta in May.
Racing will start with trials on Monday the 12th. Heats will take place on Tuesday, with repechages taking place on Wednesday. Thursday will be semifinals in the Olympic events (Women’s 2x and Men’s 4x) and finals in the Paralympic events. Finals in the Olympic events taking place on Friday. Racing is scheduled to start at 8 a.m. each day.

The GRP has been training in North Carolina for the last 6 weeks, before driving up to Princton, New Jersey, to get ready to compete. We all had a Covid test 72 hours before getting to the race course for practice on Friday. And had our second Covid test Friday morning. Every morning all athletes and coaches complete a symptom check and get our temperatures taken before entering the venue. And no spectators are allowed.
