Anna Matthes spent her morning testing her mettle in the BW1x, and strongly demonstrated her ability against some of the best U23 sculls in the world. Though she started the race slower than the other crews, coming through the 500m mark in fifth place, she climbed her way through the competition with a confident and speedy base pace that saw her in third place by the 1000m mark and in second by the 1500. Though she did not catch the leading South African sculler, she definitely showed her ability to keep her confidence through the stress and difficulty of international racing, finishing 2nd with a time of 8:11.25. Anna advances to the Repechage on July 9th at 5:05 AM EST where she will face off against the scullers from Romania, Croatia, France, and Zimbabwe. Placing first or second in this race will give her a spot in the A/B Semifinal.

The live stream to watch the racing replay can be found here, and tomorrow’s racing will be streamed here. For more news, results, and updates, please continue to check the GRP News, the GRP Facebook page, or the GRP Instagram account for updates! Go Sprigs!
