GRP Snow Owns the Podium at Climb to the Castle
GRP skiers and biathletes dominated the podium positions at the NENSA Climb to the Castle Rollerski Race.
The Climb to the Castle is a mass start skate rollerski competition pitting racers against each other and the Whiteface Mountain Toll Road, a grueling uphill road which offers little in terms of respite for competitors.
Jake Brown won the Men’s race in a time of 38 minutes and 4 seconds. GRP skier Akeo Maifeld-Carucci was second, 1 minute and 30 seconds behind.
Caitlin Patterson and Margie Freed battled all the way up the road, with Patterson edging out Freed by .7 of a second after 47 minutes of racing.
GRP biathlete Tara Geraghty-Moats took 3rd place in the women’s competition, 46 seconds behind Margie and Caitlin.
