[GRP Snow]: Incoming ‘23 Class

The Green Racing Project is excited to add three new members to the snow roster. Timothy Cunningham is joining the biathlon squad while college teammates Joseph Lynch and John Schwinghamer will join the ski team. Please join us in welcoming them to Vermont!

Timothy Cunningham

Tim comes to us from the NYSEF PG team based in Lake Placid, New York. He earned his first-career IBU Cup starts this past winter and raced to 2 top-40’s on the circuit. Previously, Tim skied for St. Lawrence University, where he graduated in 2021 with a double major in math and physics.

"I remember racing at Craftsbury as a teenager,” Tim says, “getting passed by the Green Racing Project athletes so effortlessly on their home course. Witnessing the camaraderie, strength, and community around the GRP was incredibly motivating as a high school and college athlete. I'm excited to be able to contribute to that image and train with the best this coming season."

Joseph Lynch

Joe, a double major in biology and psychology, is one of two athletes coming from the College of Saint Scholastica in Duluth, MN. While racing for the Saints, Joe placed 3rd in the Duluth CCSSA 20k classic race and was 10th in the Wirth SuperTour skate sprint. Joe has trained with Team Birkie throughout the last four summers and is excited to move to Vermont to join the GRP. He says, “The people at Green Racing Project have already been so welcoming and awesome, I can’t wait to get out to Vermont and start training.”

John Schwinghamer

John also comes from St. Scholastica where he studied chemistry and is currently working to finish his chemistry masters. John has worked as a wildland firefighter in Wyoming. On the skiing side of things, John brings good speed to the team having placed 13th in the US Nationals classic sprint this past season.

“I am super excited about joining the Green Racing Project because I think there is an amazing supportive team environment at the Outdoor Center,” he says. “I also think that Craftsbury is the perfect place to train and develop as an athlete.”
