[GRP Biathlon]: Utah Trials

The GRP Biathlon team traveled to Midway, Utah for rollerski trials races, October 14-15, that determined Period 1 starts for the IBU and World Cup. The GRP will send Jake Brown, Kelsey Dickinson, and Tara Geraghty-Moats to the pre-World Cup camp in Vuokatti, Finland, from which 4 men and 5 women will be selected for Period 1 WC starts. Jackie Garso will race IBU Cups 1 and 2 in Sjusjoen, Norway and Idre, Sweden, respectively, starting November 24th.

The trails races were a part of the Shutzenski Festival at Soldier Hollow, the 2002 Olympic venue.

In the opening sprint competition, Jake placed 4th for the men, with Raleigh Goessling and Luke Brown finishing in 18th and 19th. On the women’s side, Kelsey placed 3rd, Tara 5th, and Jackie 11th.

On the second day of racing, Kelsey was 4th in the mass start, Tara 5th, and Jackie 7th. Jake was 10th with Luke in 16th. Raleigh did not race.
