[GRP Row] U23 World Championships

The GRP U23 team sent six rowers to Varese, Italy for the U23 World Championships July 25-30th, earning two top tens.

In the BM2x competition, Tucker Thomas and Thomas Felt finished 5th in their heat, 6th in repechage, and 4th in the C Final. Thomas shared, “Although we were disappointed with the outcome of our races, it was an incredible experience to compete. Coming out of the races it is easy to look back and remember all the fun times that occurred along the way. I think my biggest take away from this event is how fun being neck and neck with your competitors is for the whole way down the course.”

Megan Lee and Sue Holderness raced in a pair(BW2-), finishing 4th in their heat and then 3rd in repechage which earned them a spot in the B Final. They had their best race of the week in the B Final, finishing 2nd, just 2.5 sec out of first. This put them in eighth overall. “Racing at Worlds was an amazing experience,” Megan said. “Although this wasn’t the result I wanted, I learned so much from the regatta and the training process. Racing small boats is so much fun and we were so lucky to get three competitive races down the course where we gave everything we had. So thankful for Green Racing Project for everything this summer!

Sue added, “The races were a great experience. We learned through out the week and it was fun to put it all together for our last race.”
