Canadian Henley Day 4

Today was finally a day off…. for some of us! Contrarily, it was a marathon for Mackenzie and Rhiannon. Due to yesterday’s weather, their semifinal for their double was pushed to 8am this morning. Luckily they advanced easily out of that race, but then had to turn around and race in the heats for the U23 singles (again, both advanced easily), but the cherry on top of their long day was getting to race in the final of the U23 W2x. They put together a solid piece in what must have been a very exhausting circumstance, and took third in the event! It was pretty awesome to see! Bridget was the only other Cedar Leaf to race today and she and her 2x partner, Charlotte, took third in their semifinal and advanced to tomorrow’s final!

As for the rest of us, we played pretty low! Liza and I ran to the course from the AirBnb and got a little erg in this morning and then enjoyed a cool down run back to the cottage. Andy, Jack, Mark, and Nathan also got a couple of rows in and otherwise hung out at the house. I had a great lunch with Taylor and her mom, and then spent much of the afternoon recovering and visiting with a friend and old college teammate!

We were lucky enough to be treated to Andy’s Famous Pad Thai for dinner tonight. We all DEVOURED bowls of Pad Thai and watched Disney’s Frozen together. It was all in all, a great team bonding experience. Champ racing and Dash events kickoff tomorrow, so it’s time to go to bed!!

Until tomorrow
