Craftsbury Cs

View outside my window this morning.

I woke up this morning to drizzly, 35°F temperatures and fields of fog outside my window.  Normally this weather in January would be cause for complaint, because although I am a GRP rower, I love to ski.  Not to be fazed I strapped on my ski boots and headed out the door to hit the trails, feeling great that the temperatures were comfortable instead of the -20°F weather that we have been experiencing.  The forecast does seem bleak, but for now anyways it is still good skiing and I started thinking about the trails, Craftsbury, and words that I associate with the Outdoor Center.

Interestingly enough, many of the words that come to mind for me start with the letter C.  Or maybe I should say see?  This past week, the Ski for Light program, a group of blind skiers with professional guides, was on the trails.  The terrain on the trails around here is challenging, so to see this group around was inspiring.  We also saw the return of Walt, this summer’s blind sculler extraordinaire and Paralympic skier.

So whether (or maybe I should say crazy weather…) we are talking about classic skiing or classic Craftsbury style here is my list of Craftsbury Cs:
