The Wild West
Hello All,
The Wild West has certainly lived up to its name so far.
Butch and Sundance running through downtown Heber
We are entering the last week of our Park City training camp. Life out west has not been as wild as initially claimed, but we have certainly been living well, training hard, and enjoying the thin Utah air. When the crew first arrived at our house I think everyone was quite impressed with our new digs.
Home sweet home.
With all the mountains around it did not take long for a group of us to go exploring up on the high ridgelines near our house.
Climbing up.
While everyone knows that Vermont has the best foliage and fall colors in the world, the colors up in the mountains here in Utah are not too bad.
The mountains are not too shabby either.
In some of our more recent workouts we have rollerskied up the many mountain passes in and around the Wasatch Mountains.
The windy road was our route to the top.
While climbing up steep grades at 9000 feet feels like garbage, the views at that altitude are incredible, and on occasion one can find some snow.
Beautiful snow with a side of grass.
Although the training load has been heavy out here, we have all found ways to explore the area during our down time. A recent trip to Park City yielded some interesting finds in the clothing department.
I remember this being on display when I visited Park City back in 2007 while racing at Junior Nationals. Still on sale for only $25!
And also some pretty cool street art.
An original by famous graffiti artist Banksy
Our last week here in Utah has some big workouts, another day off and time to explore, and a chance to watch our biathletes rip it up in some trials races at the Soldier Hollow race venue. Stay tuned for more updates from the rest of the GRP crew!
