Sleeping Beauties
So lately, there’s been an increasing amount of naps amongst the GRP rowers, but for good reasons. Things have started to ramp up as we are quickly approaching our first major regatta, NSRI. To give you a taste of why we need a little extra shut-eye, here’s how the week started:
2 x 4k @ 28spm (something reminiscent of fall head racing done twice over)
steady state row in doubles
a row over 20k that started with a bunch of 40 seconds on and 20 seconds off pieces
getting huge in the gym right after 20k+ row
another steady state row
race pace work in challenging crosswind conditions
3 x 1500m @ 24spm
weight room again
Needless to say, we were all feeling it in a good way from this. Even so, it necessitated a little more of an active search for recovery. An active search for recovery means some cat naps. Here’s some proof of nap life shots I got ONLY because people were dropping like flies in the common areas of the Poteet residence:
Newspapers make for surprisingly decent blankets.
I personally do not approve of Charlie’s Colby betting tshirt pajamas.
