It’s all rainbows and unicorns in Clemson

Not quite, but things are definitely good. We’ve been putting in some good mileage in both our singles and team boats. While the conditions have been without doubt better for rowing than the frozen lakes of Vermont, we’ve had our bouts with rain and wind at times. Right now, I’m staring out the window at winds gusting around 30mph. We rowed this morning in challenging crosswinds. The only reason any of this comes to mind is because: a. we just rowed in it, b. the video I am about to link is loosely related to weather, and c. it is a point of humor to some degree.

I think Clemson is a great training location. Two buoyed courses and lots of extra water to explore. Right now, things are the toughest they can possibly be since it is the peak of visiting collegiate crews from the North doing the same thing we are and things have been a bit blustery. Even so, it’s the equivalent of wanting a different soy milk or something at the Craftsbury dining hall. Point being, even in the toughest of states, we’re in a good place. The other reason there’s a bit of comedic value is because we’re frequently told that it is never like this. Never rains. Wind never blows. Well, it clearly does, but the hospitable sentiment is appreciated nonetheless as we are still very fortunate.

Now, for a short bit of comedy, check out Troy’s video work:
