GRP and the Catamounts

One task that the GRP rowers have taken on during the winter is helping to coach the Catamounts.  With the help of Amy Schulz, we act as the coaches for the up and coming skiers of the Craftsbury area.  So far it’s been both a breath of fresh air to us as we get to spend time playing games on skis with some lively kids as well as a challenge to move these youngsters further along in their skiing while also maintaining their interest.

One day Amy brought a tug boat rope along and the kids had to attempt to both hold on as well as let go and catch up.  Little did they know they were working on their balance and footwork at the same time!  Meanwhile, some of us (myself not included since I had the pleasure of taking the photo) got an extra workout for the day.

Catamount Train again with Jamie Chapman and Amy Schulz making sure all stay aboard!

We even had the opportunity to give the Catamounts a taste of our own medicine on a day when the weather was less than cooperative.  Although we’ve come a long ways with the skiing, we will always know a lot more about erging.

Catamounts off skis and on ergs!
